The short answer
This prophets quiz has five questions, each with three choices and an explained answer. Every answer rests on a verse of the Quran, and its reference is given so you can read the passage again. It is a learning aid, not a retelling of the stories and not a judgement of anyone's faith.
How do I use this islamic quiz on prophets with answers?
Choose one answer for each question. The explanation for that choice shows with its verse, given as surah name, then surah and verse number. Without scripts, every explanation shows under its question, so the answers still read on any device.
All five questions come from the Quran. The quiz uses no hadith and no disputed stories. Where the verses leave a detail open, the question leaves that detail out.
The questions and choices are the Ilmwell team's learning aid. They are not a replacement translation, and they are not an assessment of anyone's faith. For a question about your own situation, ask a scholar you trust.
I thought I knew the stories of the prophets properly until I read the verses themselves. The verse was shorter and plainer than the version I had grown up with, and a couple of details I would have put in the answer were not there at all. Checking the verse changed my answer, and I trust a quiz more when it explains each one.
Five questions about the prophets
Five questions, three choices each. Pick an answer and its explanation appears. You can read the passages further down the page first: there is no time limit.
1What happened to the son of the prophet Noah, peace be upon him, in the flood, according to Hud 11:42 and 11:43?
Answer: He was among the drowned. Hud 11:42 has Noah call his son, "Come ride with us", and says the son "was standing aloof". Hud 11:43 reports the outcome: "so he was among the drowned", after the wave came between them. The son had said he would reach a mountain, but the verse reports the wave, not a rescue.
2In Al-Anbiya 21:69, what does the verse tell the fire to be for Abraham, peace be upon him?
Answer: Coolness and peace. Al-Anbiya 21:69 reads "be coolness and peace for Abraham", so the command is addressed to the fire itself. The verse does not describe a path out of the flames or a light for his household, so those choices are not in the source.
3Why did the father of Joseph, peace be upon him, warn him not to tell his brethren about his dream, according to Yusuf 12:5?
Answer: They might plot against him. Yusuf 12:4 has Joseph tell his father about the dream. Yusuf 12:5 gives the reason for the warning: "lest they plot a plot against you". The other two choices are not in these verses.
4According to Ta-Ha 20:17 and 20:18, what was in the right hand of Moses, peace be upon him?
Answer: A staff. Ta-Ha 20:17 asks, "And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?", and Ta-Ha 20:18 answers, "This is my staff whereon I lean". The verses name a staff, so a sword and a lamp are not in the source.
5When an ant exclaimed in An-Naml 27:18, how did Solomon, peace be upon him, respond, according to An-Naml 27:19?
Answer: He smiled, laughing at her speech. An-Naml 27:19 reads "And (Solomon) smiled, laughing at her speech", and then he prays to be enabled to be thankful. The ant's warning in 27:18 is "lest Solomon and his armies crush you". The other two responses do not appear in these verses.
What do the passages say?
The Arabic is the Tanzil text and the English is the adapted Pickthall translation, the same wording the explanations quote.

What does this quiz leave out?
Each question uses one passage. A story is often told across several passages and in more detail elsewhere in the Quran, and this quiz does not cover those. It does not draw on the hadith collections or on scholarly commentary either.
The verses do not name Noah's son, so the question does not name him. Where scholars differ on a detail, the quiz leaves that detail out rather than choose one.
Where should I read next?
Pick a question you got wrong and read its passage again in full, then open the lesson on that prophet in its row. This is a suggested study step, not a prescribed practice.
